Office of Admissions

Primary Purpose of Position

The Director of Admissions works under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Enrollment and will manage and provide oversight for the Office of Admissions. This position is instrumental in the leadership of the admissions office, as well as the various goals and the daily operations. The successful candidate will possess strong computer and analytical skills, as well as have strong interpersonal skills and be a proponent of a customer service admissions model.

Job Description

Primary responsibilities include: Plans and leads student recruitment initiatives by providing overall leadership and overseeing the daily operations of an aggressive admissions team, which includes two associate directors, six assistant directors and seven support staff members.

This position provides vision to inspire, motivate, coach and mentor professional and support staff in setting and reaching enrollment goals; monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of admission policies, practices and procedures; Leads the development of marketing materials and strategies utilizing current technologies, including social media.

The successful candidate will serve as an enrollment liaison with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness in order to oversee the development, monitoring and analysis of statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, yield management forecasting and operational efficiency of human, physical and financial resources.

The director manages the admission process, including the recruitment plan and review of applicant information and dissemination of decisions: provides coordination between recruitment-oriented offices and helps to maintain a cohesive identity and high visibility for those services with faculty; promotes the use of technology in recruitment and office procedures.

This person serves as the institutional Residency Officer and the primary campus point of contract for administration of the UNC system wide suspension/expulsion database. They will also serve as the liaison to internal and external constituents regarding admissions and enrollment issues and is integral in managing the budget which exceeds $1.25 million annually.

This position is deemed Mandatory Personnel. Mandatory Employees: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events.
