Min T/E Requirements

• A minimum of a master’s degree in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership from an accredited program
• A current North Carolina Teaching License, preferably in K-6 licensure, Middle Grades, AIG licensure, Reading, and/or School Administration licensure (or eligibility) with a minimum of three years successful teaching experience at the level is required
• Teaching expertise required in educational fields including educational foundations and research and middle grades and elementary education, and classroom instructional methods subjects including but not limited to literacy, language arts, mathematics, science and/or social studies.
• All degrees must come from accredited institutions.
• Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates with a demonstrated record of professional teaching experience at the elementary and collegiate level, including online teaching with an ability to successfully structure and implement a distance-education based course and a terminal degree in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or Educational Leadership from an accredited program

Candidates should also provide evidence of supporting pre-service and in-service teachers, commitment to equity and diversity in public schooling, experience in collaboration with K-12 faculty and school partners and expertise in leadership and program development. Strong consideration will be afforded to candidates with a demonstrated record of professional teaching experience at the K-12 and collegiate level, including online teaching with an ability to successfully structure and implement a distance-education based course.

Job Description

The University of North Carolina at Pembroke School of Education seeks to fill an academic position as Lecturer in the School of Education. Position begins August 2017 and requires a full-time teaching load with opportunities to advise students and engage in service activities, leadership and professional development.

Responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate and graduate students, supervision of field experience and student teaching interns, service on School of Education and University committees, leadership opportunities in the School of Education, engaging in professional development and assessment and evaluation of program related to standards.

Excellent teaching skills and interpersonal skills, combined with strong oral and written communication skills; Effective use of technology in teaching and learning; Knowledge and expertise in use of North Carolina Professional Teaching Standards and North Carolina Standard Course of Study related to elementary teaching practices; and knowledge and expertise in use of TaskStream, Learning Management Systems, edTPA assessments and CAEP accreditation. Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching, and to working and teaching in a diverse cultural environment.
